The Tequila Goodeid (Zoogoneticus tequila) is a critically endangered livebearer native to a single watershed in western Mexico. Named for the Teuchitlán River near the town of Tequila in Jalisco, Mexico, this species is admired for its bold body shape and distinct coloration. This species is native to the Río Teuchitlán in west-central Mexico. Its natural habitat includes spring-fed streams and pools with aquatic vegetation, moderate flow, and clear, cool water. It prefers mineral-rich, alkaline conditions.
